No WGW Knit & Natter - Saturday 7th September 2024 at the Barleycorn Inn
Wiltshire Green Woollies is located in a small village called Collingbourne Kingston in one of the most ancient and beautiful parts of England, Salisbury Plain. We have our own mixed-herd flock of sheep, which are hand-sheared, with the fleeces sorted and washed ready for dyeing and spinning.
This three day course takes place in the stunning Wiltshire countryside. Attendees will spend their first day-and-a half foraging for plants on our farm and making botanical dyes. Our dyes are made using traditional methods, outside over artisan fire-pits.
After dying, the fleece, or yarn (dependent on dying method used) is dried on oak racks in the old milking parlour. This course can be taken in conjunction with our two-day hand spinning course where each attendee will learn how to hand spin the fleece, which they have hand dyed at the beginning of the week, or dye virgin spun yarn to create their own unique and stunning wool.
There are no hidden costs as all materials and equipment needed to complete this course are provided. Attendees receive a Course Companion and will keep their own dyed fleece.
If local accommodation is required, we recommend the stunning Old School House Bed & Breakfast in our village, about half-a-mile from the farm www.ck-osh.co.uk
Our hand dyeing courses are held at our family farm in Collingbourne Kingston during the Summer. The courses have limited availability with only three attendee spaces available on each to ensure the maximum level of one-to-one training with Claire.
