Wiltshire Green Woollies is a specialist heritage yarn craft centre. We are passionate about teaching and passing on the skills of fleece preparation, hand-spinning & dyeing, knitting, crochet and weaving.
These wonderful crafts are not only lots of fun, they can be immensely rewarding too! Whatever you create, an heirloom piece for your family, a gift for a loved one or something for yourself, you'll know that you have have crafted a gift that is not only beautiful, but also unique.
An additional benefit is that all yarn crafts, particulary hand-spinning, knitting and crochet are real stress-busters! Learning these crafts will help you create your own personal 'me-time' where you can leave your work and day-to-day cares behind and just focus, mindfully, on your preferred craft, perhaps in the company of some good friends.
Our programme of new courses for 2020 has been disrupted as we, along with the rest of the world, face the challenges caused by the Corona Virus Situation. In accordance with our Government's guidance, we have cancelled all our courses, workshops, master classes, club meetings and events until the end of August 2020. We shall review our operations at that time, again in accordance with Government guidance.
When we come out of this worrying and stressful challenge, we shall be back, bigger, better and greener than ever. We will be hosting a huge Knit and Crochet in, on the farm, in support of the local NHS trusts that have done so much to care for us all, and be there for us even if we did not need them.
We will be delivering our courses in our original, and new locations and holding knitting, crochet, hand-dyeing, spinning and weaving courses throughout the year, at our family farm in Collingbourne Kingsto.
We were very proud and excited to have been selected to offer the Crochet Courses at this year's prestigeous Marlborough College Summer School. Unfortunately, due to the Corona Virus situtation, the Summer School has now been cancelled for 2020. We look forward to supporting the Marlborough College Summer School in 2021.
So, if you have you always wanted to learn to knit, crochet, dye, spin or weave then we definitely have the course for you, and we look foward to delievering these, when we are able to reopen.
Claire @ WGW
Hi, I'm Claire and I am absolutely passionate about all things woollie. I have worked with wool, and textiles all my life as a hobby, and love desigining knitting and crochet patterns and teaching all the heritiage yarn crafts.
After I retired from corporate life, I decided that it was time to make my hobby my business and spread my love of yarn craft to anyone who wants to learn.
I hold beginners classes, workshops and master classes throughout the year and also design special courses to suit craft groups, schools, and elders.
I love to design knitting and crochet patterns inspired by the beautiful nautre and the beautiful Wiltshire and British Countryside.
I use my patterns in my unique knitting & crochet courses, and I have just started to publish some of these as free patterns, for you to download, in our online shop. Other patterns are available to purchase and I am working on my first pattern book which is due to be published in 2021
I love to work with British Partners, individuals and bespoke organisations who offer quality products that are environmentally sourced. Working the Greener Way by design.
I live in on a Farm in Wiltshire on Salisbury Plain, in Wiltshire. My inspiration comes from the local landscape, places that I visit in and around the UK and the seasonal colours that wash over the countryside.
We started keeping sheep in 2018 and we are now producing our own artisan hand dyed and hand spun yarn, using our own wool and dyes prepared from plants grown on our farm. These will be available for sale from the Autumn 2020.
Every year we hold a Summer Solstice charity knitting & crochet day on our farm, raising money for two local charities.
It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Lynda and Livio, have decided to close the Old School House with immediate effect, due to the Corona Virus situation. They have decided not to reopen and our Club is currently looking for a new home.
Of course we are still closed due to the Corona Virus Lockdown and this is making a new venue difficult to locate.
I will keep you updated as soon as I know when we can reopen, and I have a new venue.
