Hand weaving

Wiltshire Green Woollies introduction to weaving course is held using 24" Ashford Rigid Heddle Looms.  The course is delivered by Claire Lingard at our family farm on Salisbury Plain, at the quaint little village of Collingbourne Kingston.

The Rigid Heddle loom is a simple piece of equipment, however, crafters are able to create and weave beautiful fabrics with it.  It is the ideal loom to use for an introduction to weaving, and to develop further weaving skills, or move onto weaving with a four shaft or eight shaft table loom or floor loom if you really get the weaving bug! 

On our introduction to weaving course you will learn how to select your weaving materials, warp the loom and weave a beautiful runner, or scarf, in your chosen colour way.  
  

This course covers:
 

* Basic weaving terminology
* Yarn selection
* Prepare a warp using the direct warping method
* Warp the loom
* Weaving cloth
* ‘Finishing’ your handwoven cloth
 

By the end of the course, attendees will have woven their own unique fabric table runner or scarf, all in one-day!

There are no hidden costs as all materials and equipment needed to complete this course are provided.  Attendees receive a Course Companion and will keep their own hand-woven fabric. 

There are at least six hours of tuition with a one hour break for lunch which is provided and time for one-to-one tuition, with Claire, throughout the course.
